At the village Margarites you can visit the Byzantine churches the Church of St. George, built in the early 14th century. The Church of St. John the Theologian, built in 1383, the Church of St. John the Baptist.  The main feature of these temples is that they have wallpaints. Pottery is the major occupation of the inhabitants of the village.

Another important occupation of the inhabitants of the village is the theatrical group (Bountalia with  many good performances on their credit.Finaly in Margarites you can enjoy the delights of the Cretan kitchen, accompanied by local wine, raki and traditional taverns.
